Dear Friends,
The purpose of this site is to give information about
my training and
consulting work and to hopefully provide some information
about domestic
violence and child abuse you will find useful. The site is
currently under
construction and should be filling out more in the next few
weeks. I want
to give a special thanks to Daniel Todd who is doing all the
design work
for the site and who is donating the on-going cost of
maintaining the site
as part of his work to help end domestic violence and
child abuse.
Feel free to copy and use the handout "Signs of a
Battering
Personality", but please leave my name and phone number on it to
identify
it as my work and to allow people to contact me if they have
questions.
Please remember that domestic violence and child abuse
exist because
as a culture we allow some family members to beat people who
are viewed as
their property: their wife/partner or their children. We
will never end
battering and child abuse as long as one group of people has
power and
privilege to oppress and disrespect another group of people.
Social change
in our beliefs and our actions is the only thing that will
ever end
domestic violence, and I hope everyone reading this will commit to
work on
both an individual and community level to end all oppression such as
racism, sexism, homophobia and religious intolerance.
